Two armed robberies occurred Friday and Saturday evenings, respectively, in the city’s Southside area, near the Berkeley campus.

The first armed robbery occurred Friday about 10 p.m. near the vicinity of People’s Park, according to a crime alert. The victim was a 17-year-old male, who was robbed of his possessions by three male suspects.

Two of the suspects were described in the alert as black males between the ages of 18 to 20. The third suspect was not identified. The three suspects were last seen driving eastbound on Dwight Way in a dark-blue vehicle.

The second robbery occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday in front of International House during the commotion that took place near the Piedmont Avenue area.

Two suspects — both described as black males in their 20s — robbed a female victim of her purse and its contents, according to the alert.

The two suspects were last seen driving on Piedmont Avenue in a champagne-colored vehicle.

Those with additional information about the incidents are encouraged to contact UCPD and Berkeley Police Department.
