Female student kidnapped from campus and sexually assaulted Thursday night

A female UC Berkeley student was kidnapped from central campus and sexually assaulted in an unknown location Thursday night, according to a campus crime alert.

After the victim was kidnapped at approximately 6 pm Thursday, she was driven to an unknown location and sexually assaulted. The police located the victim Friday morning after she was released.

UCPD Sergeant Sabrina Reich said that kidnappings from campus are not a common occurrence. UCPD is conducting an active investigation of the incident.
