Female student sexually assaulted near People's Park

A female student was sexually assaulted while walking on Haste Street past People’s Park about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a UCPD crime alert.

The student was attacked from behind, pushed to the ground and subsequently sexually assaulted by the male suspect, the alert said. The female student later reported the incident to Berkeley Police Department.

The suspect, according to the alert, is described as a male in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-9, with curly hair and a beard.
