Darryl Moore, a current Berkeley City Councilmember, filed his intent to rerun for the district 2 seat, a position he has held for over a decade, according to city reports released Friday.

District 2 encompasses the southwestern region of the city, reaching from the Berkeley Marina to the west to Sacramento Street to the east. The area is bordered by both the cities of Oakland and Emeryville.

Moore was first elected to the seat in 2004, and has previously held positions in the Board of the West Berkeley Foundation, Public Library Foundation, YMCA and Berkeley Youth Alternatives. He is also a senior management analyst for the Oakland Housing Authority.

Previously, Moore has built a platform focusing primarily on housing, and has advocated for in-lieu fees for the city Housing Trust Fund from developers.

According to campaign financing documents filed Jan. 19, Moore has received $950 in contributions from July 2015 until the end of the year.

Moore is currently the only candidate who has filed to run for this Council seat.
