A female victim fell to her death from a building on the northwest corner of Durant Avenue and Telegraph Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Hanaa Djouider, 25, a Berkeley resident. Djouider is listed in the UC Berkeley campus directory.

Police are investigating a possible suicide, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Jennifer Coats.

Noah’s Bagels staff found the victim about 5:30 a.m., according to Malek Reditt, a Telegraph Business Improvement District ambassador who was at the scene about 6:30 a.m. to clean the area.

By the time Reditt arrived, “everything was covered up,” he said.

Christine Ramos, an employee at Noah’s Bagels, said someone outside the store had said a woman had fallen out of a window about 5:30 a.m. Another worker at Noah’s Bagels then called 911, according to Ramos.

As of 10 a.m., TBID ambassadors were still cleaning the area in front of Shiekh Shoes and Crepes A-Go-Go.

Many 24-hour hotlines exist for those in the middle of a crisis. Alameda County’s can be reached at 800-309-2131.
