Berkeley Police Department received a report of a strong-armed robbery near the intersection of Durant and Shattuck avenues Thursday at 6:54 p.m.

According to a BPD crime alert, four suspects approached the victim, a 35-year-old white male, and demanded his property. They then allegedly punched him, took his property from his hands and fled the scene on foot, the alert said.

BPD recovered the stolen property and took three of the suspects into custody — the fourth could not be located, according to the alert. The victim, whose affiliation with UC Berkeley is unknown, sustained minor injuries.

The three suspects taken into custody are described in the alert as an adult male named Alex Foster, a 17-year-old white male and a 17-year-old Hispanic male. The description of the fourth suspect, who was not located, is unknown.

BPD asks that anyone with information regarding the robbery call its 24-hour line at 510-981-5900.
