The Cal men’s basketball team has a number in front of its name once again.
In the AP poll released Monday, the Bears were ranked No. 25 in the country. The new placement marks the first time Cal has been in the top 25 since it was 14 at the end of November.
The rise in the standings comes on the heels of a seven-game winning streak, including a victory Feb. 11 over then-No. 11 Oregon, 83-63. The Bears also concluded their homestand Sunday with a huge offensive performance against USC, with five players scoring at least 10 points.
With the victory over the Trojans, Cal remained undefeated at home this year, going 18-0. With two matchups left in the regular season against No. 18 Arizona and Arizona State, the NCAA Tournament should be easily within the team’s reach after a stellar second half of conference-play performance.
