Berkeley Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred on Warring Street near Channing Way on Monday afternoon.

About 12:40 p.m., the female victim was walking in the area when she passed a man standing outside a silver Acura, according to an email from BPD spokesperson Officer Jennifer Coats. The man then allegedly offered to give the victim a ride, appearing to try to lure her into the vehicle.

The victim yelled, according to Coats, which drew the attention of several people nearby. The man then got in the vehicle and drove away, Coats said in an email.

The male never made physical contact with the victim, Coats said, and BPD officers are now investigating the incident.

Additionally, Coats said in an email that she is unaware of any other recent incidents similar to this one.
