Berkeley Police Department is investigating a car accident that occurred on the north side of campus Tuesday morning.
At about 8:36 a.m., BPD received a report that there had been a two-vehicle collision near Euclid Avenue and Cedar Street, said BPD spokesperson Officer Jennifer Coats.
Alissa McLean, a Berkeley resident and witness to the accident, said she was driving up Cedar Street when a man in a white car allegedly sped through the stop sign at Scenic Avenue. McLean said the man turned right onto Cedar Street and allegedly ran a red light, hitting a woman in a Toyota Sienna.
“He hit her vehicle and then spun her,” McLean said. “He headed up the hill, and then he took off on foot into the hills.”
According to Coats, one party was transported to the hospital.
