Update 03/08/2016: This article has been updated to reflect additional information from Cal Athletics.

Cal Athletics announced Tuesday that Cal rugby’s match against Santa Clara, which was originally scheduled to be played Wednesday night at Witter Field, will now be played April 9.

Additionally, the Bears’ match against Oregon State, previously scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled. The Daily Californian was told the change was made on the basis of an Oregon State player’s availability, and that Oregon State has forfeited the match.

The Bears have been hit hard by injuries this season, and will now have a chance to bring injured players back into the lineup before their next game, a road match against rival UBC on March 20. Cal lost in dramatic fashion at home to the Thunderbirds earlier this season, and will be looking to win by a six-point margin or larger in order to take home the title in the annual “World Cup” series.
