Day Trips with the Clog: Lake Anza

Christopher Hewitt/Staff

Berkeley is a fantastic place to go to college, no doubt. But sometimes, if you don’t get out of this lovely college town now and then, you might find yourself feeling a little bit trapped. We at the Clog are no strangers to feeling enclosed in the Berkeley bubble, and we’ve found that the best way to get out of that feeling is to take a day trip somewhere in the Bay Area. This week, we’re suggesting a trip that’s less than a 15-minute drive away: Lake Anza.

Lake Anza is one of the best kept secrets of the East Bay, and it’s a paradise on Earth. Some of us Cloggers took a day trip there this past weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cal Day. As both dead week and finals week approach, we highly recommend that you make a trip to this hidden treasure that is Tilden Park. Bask in the sun, destress, maybe get some class reading done (or not) and go swimming in the cool (but not too cold) water. Pack yourself a swimsuit, towel, camera, speakers, book(s) and a blanket, and you’ll definitely have the perfect day away from Berkeley.
