Campus police are investigating an incident of sexual battery that occurred Thursday morning on Sproul Plaza, according to a UCPD crime alert.

About 11:50 a.m. Thursday, a 20-year-old female student was walking through the plaza when a male stranger touched her in an inappropriate fashion. The suspect then left the scene, heading toward Dwinelle Plaza.

UCPD conducted a search of the area but was unable to locate the suspect. According to the alert, the victim did not suffer physical injuries during the incident.

The suspect was described as a clean-shaven, 5-foot-9, white male, roughly between the ages of 50 and 60. He was reportedly wearing a dark grey collared shirt, cargo pants and dark-framed sunglasses.

Anyone with information about this crime or about similar incidents is encouraged to contact UCPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 510-642-0472 during business hours and at 510-642-6760 at all other times.
