On Friday, police arrested a man suspected of stabbing two people June 18 at Civic Center Park.
The suspect, 62-year-old Lindell Waters, was arrested during a vehicle stop by the Oakland Police Department about 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. OPD then contacted the Berkeley Police Department because of Waters’ outstanding warrant for his alleged involvement in the June incident.
In that incident, a suspect stabbed two individuals about 3:30 p.m. before fleeing the scene. Both victims survived their injuries after being transported to local hospitals to receive treatment.
According to BPD spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Frankel, Waters had the knife allegedly used in the June stabbing in his pocket at the time of his arrest. Frankel said the department could not confirm or comment on other details of the case because it is an ongoing investigation.
Waters is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
