The Berkeley Police Department responded to a robbery at the intersection of Fulton Street and Stuart Street about 12:23 a.m. early Saturday morning, according to BPD Lt. Alyson Hart.

After the three victims with unknown campus affiliation were robbed of their personal effects by three individuals — one of whom was carrying a gun — BPD officers quickly identified a “getaway” vehicle associated with the incident at the intersection of Channing Way and Atherton Street, Hart said.

Within 15 minutes, Hart said, BPD officers stopped a man at the intersection of Durant Avenue and Ellsworth Street who matched the description of one of the suspects. BPD officers then arrested the suspect, Hart said.

According to Hart, the two other suspects remain at large, and are described only as two Black men.

BPD is still investigating the incident, Hart said. Anyone with information is asked to call BPD’s 24-hour tip line at 510-981-5900.
