Two incidents of sexual battery on campus were reported to UCPD on Friday evening, according to a campuswide Clery Act timely warning.

At about 5:55 p.m., a witness reported that he had seen a man in an electric wheelchair allegedly touching a female victim inappropriately in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union building, according to the alert. Soon after, UCPD received a second report of a man who matched the same description allegedly touching female victims around campus, the alert said.

UCPD was unable to locate the suspect in any of the incidents after a subsequent search of the area. The suspect was described in the alert as a white man with curly brown hair and wearing a black shirt and jeans.

On Friday, dozens of female UC Berkeley students commented on a post in the campus students’ “Free & For Sale” Facebook page to report similar past incidents allegedly involving a man who matched the suspect description.

No victims of the Friday incidents had come forward to police as of 6:10 p.m. Saturday, according to the alert.

UCPD asks that anyone who has witnessed or been a victim of similar acts involving the suspect contact its Criminal Investigation Bureau at 510-642-0472.
