Justin Wilcox has landed his first major recruit as head coach of the Cal football team: new offensive coordinator Beau Baldwin.

Baldwin has been the head coach at Eastern Washington, an FCS program, and has compiled an 85-32 record since 2008. He won the 2010 FCS national championship and made the semifinals in three of the following six seasons.

Although he was born in Santa Barbara, it would be easy to mistake Baldwin for a Washington native. He graduated from a high school in Washington, played quarterback for Central Washington from 1990-93, and since then he has spent every year coaching at either Central Washington or Eastern Washington.

Wilcox is a defensive specialist, but will seemingly try to retain Cal’s reputation for offensive firepower. Eastern Washington ranked third in scoring in the FCS this year and was first in passing yards per game.
