Police shut down part of College Avenue after car accident near Unit 1

Police shut down a portion of College Avenue on Thursday night after a car accident occurred near Unit 1 around 10 p.m.

A silver sedan was making a southbound turn when it hit a fire truck that was stopped at a traffic signal, according to Berkeley Police Department Officer Corey Bold. College Avenue was closed off from Channing Way to Durant Avenue.

The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries and as of 10:45, police were still investigating whether he was intoxicated.
