Daily Cal awarded best website, honored in 17 categories in college media contest

If you are reading this, you are on the best college newspaper website in the state, according to the California College Media Association.

The Daily Californian received 17 awards Saturday, including five first-place awards, in the annual CCMA contest. Thank you to our readers for their support as we aim to improve every year. Without further ado, here are the awards we won in the 2017 CCMA contest:

Best newspaper inside page/spread design: Dani Sundell for Ivan Rabb’s feature story
Best sports photograph: Ethan Epstein for Cal football’s Tre Watson against Utah

Best multimedia presentation: Sid Iyer and Kiya Eshaghian for Berkeley community rallies around First Congregational Church after fire

Best black-and-white advertisement: Willow Yang for Free House

Best feature story: Alexandra Yoon-Hendricks for ‘The sky in the east was bright red’
