An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred Saturday at the intersection of Channing Way and Piedmont Avenue, according to a UCPD Nixle alert released Tuesday afternoon.
The alert said that about 12:03 a.m. Saturday, the female victim, whose affiliation to the campus is unknown, was at the intersection when she felt the suspect grab her purse. The victim and the suspect struggled over the purse, and when the victim screamed, two witnesses ran to help her.
“The suspect let go of the purse and fled in a waiting vehicle eastbound on Channing Way,” the alert said. “BPD searched the area but could not locate the suspect.”
According to the alert, the victim was not physically injured during the altercation.
The alert described the suspect as a Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 23, about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet in height. He was also described as having short black hair and no facial hair, wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.
