If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you have found yourself in the unfortunate situation of having a 7-10 p.m. finals slot Friday. We at the Clog would like to start off by saying that we’re sincerely sorry. The only thing that makes finals (bear)able is that your friends are suffering right there with you. Once the crowds of people turn in their last exams Thursday, though, you’re left with that last dreadful day of sheer loneliness. So you may ask, what do I do when all of my friends are gone? If this is the question that’s lingering on your mind, you’ve come to the right place.
Go to the library
This one may seem a bit obvious considering you still have a final to take, but there’s a twist! The beauty of having this 7-10 p.m. slot is that the libraries will be nearly empty on Thursday and Friday! Although it’s a bit sad to imagine all of your UC Berkeley peers frolicking in the beauty of summer, at least you have a prime spot in Main Stacks! Just remind yourself that this extra day of studying was most likely needed and will definitely be reflected in your final grade.
Go out to dinner and treat yo’ self
Enjoy a single’s dinner the night before your big exam. Chances are most of the restaurants will be empty because everyone has left Berkeley for summer vacation. Considering that the dining halls are closed usually after the Wednesday of finals week, you’re going to have to buy yourself dinner regardless! Might as well make the most out of it!
Workout Friday morning
Go get your brain juices flowing before your last final, because God knows we need every ounce of it. Since everyone will be gone for summer, you’ll probably have the whole gym to yourself! So forget that, “one out one in” machine mentality and use all of the equipment your heart desires.
Adopt a cat
You’ll probably be really lonely for those few days after everyone has let Berkeley, so you should definitely go to your nearest shelter and adopt a (few) cat(s). Cats are wonderful companions, and you’ll need at least one for this lonely period of time. This is a great option as long as you take the cat with you for summer vacation. Please don’t forget the cat.
We hope that these activities will help you get through those last few treacherous days of finals. Good luck on your finals, Bears!
