With the semester finally over, it’s time to tune out the sounds of school and tune in to the sounds of summer. One thing I always look forward to doing over summer vacation is coming back home and having a picnic on the warm sands of SoCal’s beaches. Peanut butter and almond butter together form a nutritious and flavorful friendship that helps me fuel my sunny, water-sports-packed days. Peanut butter is known to contain protein, while almond butter contains vitamins, minerals and fiber. These two nut butters will act to give your body the energy boost it needs in order to take on the sun and all the activities you endeavor under its light. This recipe is perfect for those of you who are headed out on your own little summertime adventures.

Ingredients

Makes 1-1½ cup(s) of dip

10 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon almond butter

1 tablespoon peanut butter

1½ tablespoon honey

Your choice of fruit (apples, bananas, blackberries, raspberries)

Mix all your ingredients except the fruit in a small bowl in no particular order. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Wash your fruit and serve together.

If you choose to eat the dip with the berries, you can cut the portions of the almond butter, peanut butter and honey in half and just mix them into the mixture itself. For bigger and hardier fruits like apples and bananas, simply dip them into the mixture. Remember, if you’re headed somewhere hot, be sure to pack the dip and fruit in an ice box!
