Berkeley man arrested for alleged possession of child pornography

Storea Hassas, a 41-year-old Berkeley resident, was arrested at his home Friday night for allegedly possessing over 1,000 images and videos of child pornography, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

Hassas was arrested by Berkeley Police Department on charges of alleged possession or control of child pornography and alleged possession of obscene matter that portrays sexual sadism or sexual masochism involving a person under 18 years of age, according to the BPD arrest log.

The Berkeley Police Department could not be reached for comment.

Bail for Hassas has been set at $130,000 according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

Hassas was booked Saturday morning at Berkeley Jail about 4:12 a.m., and was scheduled for arraignment at Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland on Tuesday morning, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Hassas is currently scheduled for a plea hearing on May 31, 2017.
