Berkeley Police Department officers responded to an incident Sunday evening at Pappy’s Grill and Sports Bar.
According to BPD Officer Steve Rego, an alleged assault with a deadly weapon occurred Sunday evening at Pappy’s when a person allegedly threw a glass at a bartender, slicing open their face.
BPD spokesperson Lt. Joe Okies said officers responded to an incident at Pappy’s after the department received a call about 10:33 p.m.
Okies said the incident involved an argument between the suspect and the victim which allegedly escalated into an altercation, leading to a female allegedly throwing a glass at another person.
Okies said officers later stopped a car about a block away from Pappy’s with the suspect in it and made an arrest for alleged assault with a deadly weapon. He added the suspect was currently in the process of being booked. According to Okies, the victim was treated at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation, according to Okies.
