The Bay Area Book Festival was a sight to see: from anti-Trump protesters to live musical performances, the festival was far from uneventful. There was a colorful array of entertainment provided for children and thought-provoking panels of authors, leading many families to come out to the event because the festival could accommodate all ages.
One moment that stood out in my experience at the festival was the Roxane Gay panel. Roxane Gay — a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and author of the essay collection “Bad Feminist” — attracted a full house at The Freight & Salvage. She provided pointed political criticism on the current state of the American government and laid out her experiences as an author. Overall, the panelists offered thought-provoking perspectives regarding political discourse.
