Today we launch The Daily Californian’s new favicon and masthead online. The new masthead reflects a font and spacing change codified in our recently launched print redesign, while the new favicon marks a significant departure from its predecessor.
For ages, the Daily Cal’s visual presence has been tied to the pen. Just a year ago, the Daily Cal’s immediate survival was ensured by the passage of the Ink Initiative, a campus fee campaign. The new favicon pays tribute to these roots.
As I’ve written before, we succeed only because of constant reader feedback. If you have any thoughts on the new favicon, masthead or questions in general, please direct them to [email protected].
