Berkeley Fire Department responded to a false alarm on the 2400 block of Piedmont Avenue on Tuesday evening.

BFD received a false report of a structure fire at an apartment complex on Piedmont Avenue, according to BFD on-duty battalion Chief Brian Harryman.

Harryman said after firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered the reported fire was a false alarm — someone had “maliciously discharged” a fire extinguisher and pulled a fire alarm in the building.

Harryman said BFD firefighters were recalled from the scene at 7:41 p.m.
