Former member of the Cal basketball team Sam Singer and Team USA won gold at the 20th World Maccabiah Games. Singer and Team USA won all six games and defeated opponents by an average margin of 34.7 points, including 110-32 and 91-29 routs of Belgium and Mexico, respectively.

Singer was one of the team’s top contributors during the games, averaging 9.3 points per game over six games. In USA’s 78-60 defeat of Canada during preliminaries, Singer led the team with 20 points. The point guard also chipped in 12 points in the final against France.

Prior to the Maccabiah Games, Singer signed a three-year deal to join the Bnei Herzliya basketball club in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Bnei Herzliya finished fifth and made the playoffs last season, but was swept by Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C. in three games.
