Three men and one juvenile were arrested early Monday morning on charges of an armed robbery that took place on University Avenue, as first reported by Berkeleyside.
According to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Frankel, the robbery occurred about 10:10 p.m. Sunday. A woman was on her phone when she was approached by two of the suspects, one of whom allegedly grabbed her phone while the other produced a handgun and took her purse.
The suspects left on foot and were seen driving away from the area in a black Honda. Around 1:31 a.m., a patrol officer stopped a Honda containing three adults and one juvenile, who were then arrested on suspicion of robbery.
According to records from the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, the three adults who were arrested are Jacob St. John, Tommy McDaniels and Melachi Davis. All three are currently being held at Berkeley Jail, while the juvenile is being held at Juvenile Hall.
All three adults are scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 16.
