UCPD officers responded to a report of assault with a deadly weapon at Eucalyptus Grove near the West Crescent about 7:49 p.m. Monday, according to a Nixle alert released Tuesday evening.

The alert said witnesses at the scene reported to officers that the female victim, who is not affiliated with the campus, was arguing with the male suspect. He then allegedly hit her in the head with a piece of wood, which rendered her unconscious.

“The suspect left the scene walking southbound towards Oxford Street,” the alert said. “The victim suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital. UCPD searched the area but could not locate the suspect.”

The alert described the suspect as of an “unknown race,” approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height and about 140 pounds in weight. He was also described of having an “dark complexion” and was last seen wearing a green shirt and brown pants, carrying a green suitcase.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call UCPD at 510-642-0472.
