Death investigation on Grizzly Peak causes closure

Oakland Police Department, or OPD, found a body Tuesday morning on Grizzly Peak, at the intersection of Grizzly Peak Boulevard and South Park Drive, according to OPD spokesperson Officer Marco Marquez.

The Alameda County Coroner’s office is investigating the cause of death. As a result of this investigation, Grizzly Peak was closed.

OPD found the body after receiving a report of “an unresponsive person” on Grizzly Peak, Marquez said in an email. Emergency medical services arrived shortly after and the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to Marquez, a firearm was used, and the Alameda County Coroner’s office is investigating whether the death was a homicide or a suicide.
