Spoiler alert: it’s not the asparagus!
Ah, Trader Joe’s, the perfect college student grocery store. The options are diverse, affordable, easy to make, and most importantly very good––perhaps too good. TJ’s has plenty of addictive items that you may very well eat within hours of bringing them home. Without further ado, we break down 10 items that are easy to obsess over.
Joe-Joe’s
Perhaps the most dangerous addictive food in the store, anyone who’s ever purchased these knows that it’s hard to stop once you get started on these. This delicious snack is a sandwich creme cookie that puts actual Oreo cookies to shame. You’ll go from purchasing them to throwing the box away within a span of hours.

Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls
Similarly to Joe-Joe’s, the Mini Mint Mouthfuls are simply too easy to consume. We’ve all been there, whether it’s a hot day out or you just got back from the gym and want to reward yourself. Maybe it’s just because they’re too darn small, and that twelve of them might as well equal three regular sized ice cream bars, but they won’t last long.

Whole Milk Yogurt Six-Packs
Similarly to Joe-Joe’s, you’ll go through their yogurt packs a lot quicker than you realize. There’s a few different flavors to choose from, but the banana and strawberry cream cups are particularly easy to scoop at until the cup is clean. If only real fruit was this addictive.

Organic Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars
If you’ve ever gotten tired of Cliff or Kind bars and wanted to try something new, you’ve probably resorted to the Chocolate Chip Chewy Bar boxes. While you may try to rationalize them to yourself as healthy protein bars, you’re really just eating chocolate with some granola in there somewhere.

“Just the Clusters” Vanilla Almond Granola Bars
Are you the kind of person that likes to eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? If that cereal is “Just the Clusters,” we don’t blame you. Bonus points if you take some of that Whole Milk Yogurt we mentioned earlier and mix it with this delicious cereal.
Cinnamon Swirl Bread
The scent of toasted Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Swirl Bread can give even the most rancid-smelling residence a wonderful scent. Plus, it can be used for PB&J sandwiches, french toast, or simply just bread and butter. Just make sure not to neglect that whole wheat loaf sitting right next to it.

Soft Strawberry Licorice Twists
These are our latest obsession! There’s probably a reason why the licorice twist packages resemble bags of chewing tobacco. You can’t just have one piece, and you’ll probably be trying to get little licorice bits out of your teeth hours later, but we’ll happily do that if it means getting to another bag of these. You may never eat Red Vines or Twizzlers again.

White Cheddar Popcorn
Have you ever gone on a road trip without White Cheddar Popcorn from TJ’s? You might as well not have even gone at all. In any social situation or gathering where the popcorn is present, the big bag (that’s at least 25 percent air) gets passed around like an aux chord.

Pretzel Slims
This could really apply to their entire chip section, but the pretzel slims take the cake for us. Not unlike the White Cheddar Popcorn, the Pretzel Slims are ideal for road trips and picnics. They’re also ideal for when you need a study snack but unfortunately make more progress finishing the bag than you do actually studying.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
The baked goods section at is the plethora of deliciousness, but buying a cake for yourself in the middle of the week just doesn’t feel right (but hey, more power to you if you do). But we all like to treat ourselves in some fashion when we go grocery shopping, and the Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins are sweet enough to take home yet can be justified to eat on a random Tuesday.
