Everyone turns towards with frightened faces, looking as if a demon had just been summoned from below the Earth. Instantly you regret not taking longer to try and hunt out a substantial snack. If this had happened to you in more than one instance, these snack hacks around campus are perfect for those days where you need a healthy and tasty pick-me-up that’s a bit more exciting than a granola bar.

D’yar mediterranean cuisine sells a generous portion of hummus for just $3.99. The hummus is made from garbanzo beans, tahini and lemon. You can’t forget to pair it with the pita bread that’s freshly baked either, making for a delicious, comforting and hearty snack. Everything is flavorful and filled with seasonings. If you’re in the mood for some great Mediterranean food that’s always consistent on taste and quality, for a good price, D’yar is the place to be.

Although you may think Golden Bear Cafe is just for freshman, it has plenty of food that you’d find in a big grocery store. A Clog favorite at GBC is Justin’s Peanut Butter packets which is offered in flavors ranging from classic peanut butter to chocolate hazelnut and vanilla almond butter. Justin’s also uses all natural ingredients and pairs perfectly with an apple or banana.

While UCafe is tucked in between a few well-known eateries nearby, it still has a presence that cannot be denied. UCafe is a cute bakery-cafe with breads and pastries and a wide variety of tea drinks. The best dish to get when stopping by is the rice cake with red bean paste. This snack is quite filling and healthy. The sticky rice cake is a bit crispy on the outside with a gooey texture inside. With toasted sesame seeds and fragrant red bean paste, everything from this treat’s scent to its taste is irresistible.

Like GBC, The Den is a great option if you’re looking to use your meal points. As a college student, you may only see avocados in your dreams and, while packaged guacamole may not be the same as the real deal, it’s a great starting point. The Den sells Sabra guacamole and tortilla chips in small containers that can easily fit in your backpack for the day. In addition to chips and guac, The Den also offers a plethora of smoothies. Whether you’re looking for a green, protein or peanut butter smoothie, The Den can make you a fresh blend within minutes.

Jamba Juice’s greek yogurt

While Jamba Juice isn’t much of a hidden gem, a lot of people don’t know that they don’t just sell smoothies. Jamba Juice’s non-fat greek yogurt topped with fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, fresh bananas, organic granola and a drizzle of honey is the perfect pick me up if you are craving something sweet. The plain greek yogurts thick consistency and tartness pairs perfectly with the sweet toppings and crunchy granola. Greek yogurt is also high in protein, so this snack will keep you a bit fuller for longer!

Now go forth with full stomachs and fueled minds Golden Bears!
