Female student threatened with a metal tool near LeConte Hall on Wednesday

UCPD is investigating a report of brandishing of a weapon that occurred in the area of LeConte Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

According to UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Sabrina Reich, a female student called UCPD about 1:55 p.m. to report that she was the victim of brandishing of a weapon near LeConte Hall. The victim had confronted the suspect because she believed that he was stealing bicycle parts. When she did so, the suspect allegedly threatened her with a metal tool.

Reich said in an email that there was no physical contact during the altercation and that no one was injured.

UCPD officers conducted an area check but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as a white male between the ages of 40 and 50 with short brown hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and carrying a dark brown plaid shirt, according to Reich.
