A power outage occurred across the west end of Berkeley on Sunday morning, affecting approximately 705 PG&E customers.

The outage extended along Sixth Street, between Bancroft Way and Cedar Street, according to Berkeley Police Department Lt. Andrew Rateaver. The power was restored by 12:11 p.m, within an hour of the outage.

PG&E spokesperson Karly Hernandez said the cause of the outage is under investigation but that it seems to be some type of equipment failure.

“Whenever there is any sort of equipment failure, PG&E conducts a thorough root-cause investigation so we can avoid outages like this one in the future,” Hernandez said.
