A sexual battery suspect who allegedly followed and groped a female UC Berkeley student was arrested Monday, according to a Nixle alert issued Monday afternoon.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., the male suspect allegedly approached the student near Durant Food Court and followed her to Freeborn Hall in Unit 1, the alert said. Upon reaching the Unit 1 courtyard, he allegedly asked the student for a hug, which she denied, and then grabbed her buttock.
A security monitor at the entrance of Freeborn Hall told the suspect to leave and subsequently called UCPD, according to the alert. A UCPD officer reportedly recognized the individual on a surveillance camera video from a previous contact, and the suspect was located and arrested by UCPD.
The individual has also been connected to a BPD case of burglary and false imprisonment, and BPD positively identified him as the suspect in question, according to the alert.
