4-car collision on University Avenue sends 5 to hospital

A vehicle collision allegedly caused by a drunk driver on University Avenue sent 5 people to the hospital, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

At 12:46 p.m., a suspected drunk driver, currently under a DUI investigation by BPD, allegedly caused the 4-car crash on University Avenue and Acton Street, according to Sgt. Dave Lindenau. 

Lindenau added that one of the traffic lights on the intersection was knocked down in the collision.

All individuals involved were sent to the nearby Highland Hospital.
