Police advise residents to shelter in place on 2300 block of Acton Street

Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert about 3:04 p.m. Wednesday alerting residents of the 2300 block of Acton Street to shelter in place.

An earlier Nixle alert released at 2:32 p.m. stated that there was police activity on Acton Street between Channing Way and Bancroft Way. A man at the scene may possess a gun, according to Berkeleyside.

According to another Nixle alert from BPD at about 5:09 p.m., police activity on the 2300 block of Acton Street has ended, and the warning to shelter in place has been lifted.
