Update 6/26/18: This article has been updated to reflect information from a BPD alert released June 26.

Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert at 6:10 p.m. on June 17 regarding an alleged robbery at Touchless Car Wash on Kittredge Street.

According to another BPD alert released Tuesday, Hayward resident Jeremy Edward Young, 30, was arrested by BPD on Saturday after he was found to be on probation. BPD searched Young under the terms of his probation and discovered an illegal methamphetamine smoking pipe in his possession, which led to his arrest.

Young subsequently admitted to committing the earlier robbery, according to the Tuesday alert.

The June 17 alert said Young allegedly entered the business, grabbed a pack of cigarettes and attempted to leave at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The clerk at Touchless Car Wash attempted to stop Young but was pushed aside, according to the alert.

According to the first alert, Young was a regular customer at the business.
