The National Weather Service issued a “red flag warning,” which indicates high fire danger, lasting from 11 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday, according to an Alameda County Nixle alert released at about 2 p.m. Friday.

The alert, which focused on the East Bay Hills area, said Berkeley residents should prepare for possible wildfires in this time by reviewing evacuation paths and parking cars indoors to leave room for emergency vehicles.

The alert also includes a reminder to be cautious when using barbecues and other heat-emitting tools, such as leaving a car idling. The alert had another reminder that fireworks are illegal in Berkeley.
