Over this past weekend, more than 35 vehicles were broken into in the North Berkeley area, according to a Nixle alert released by Berkeley Police Department.

Although the investigation into the auto burglaries is still in progress, BPD reported that some of the burglars were able to gain entry through an unlocked window or door, while others involved the suspect breaking a window.

BPD is asking residents in the area to review their personal security cameras to see if they have any footage that could help with the investigation.

Furthermore, BPD advises Berkeley residents to ensure they have locked their vehicles and to place all valuables out of sight. The department also recommends parking in a well-lit area or a garage, if possible.
