Three people were injured in an alleged shooting that occurred about 3 a.m. Saturday on the eastbound Interstate 80 freeway near the Gilman Street exit.
In order to conduct investigations at the crime scene, the California Highway Patrol, or CHP, closed down the freeway about 4 a.m.
According to the CHP, the three people were injured by gunshots and were transported to a local hospital, but not by an ambulance. The CHP reopened the eastbound freeway lanes about 6 a.m.
According to CHP, the law enforcement agency does not have any knowledge about the circumstances of the crime and the shooting is still being investigated.
CHP could not be immediately reached for comment.
