Car accident kills 77-year-old Berkeley resident

Tom Clark, a 77-year-old Berkeley resident and renowned poet and biographer, was hit by a car in North Berkeley on Friday night, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

Clark died at Highland Hospital in Oakland several hours after the collision, according to Berkeleyside. The Coroner’s Bureau of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Clark on Saturday.

Clark was hit while crossing The Alameda south of Marin Avenue, but was not using the crosswalk when the crash occurred, according to Berkeleyside.
