UC Berkeley student victim of strong-arm robbery on Channing Way

A male UC Berkeley student was the victim of a strong-arm robbery of a cell phone at the 2200 block of Channing Way on Thursday night, according to a UCPD Nixle alert issued at 1:11 pm.

Berkeley Police Department and UCPD officers arrested a female juvenile suspect on the scene, while another male suspect has not yet been located, according to the alert. The alert states that the victim did not suffer any injuries.

In the alert, UCPD offered several safety tips to help prevent strong-arm robberies, included traveling in groups, utilizing UC Berkeley’s Night Safety Services and keeping electronics hidden.

“When out and about, keep your electronic devices out of public view, as they are a popular robbery target,” the alert states.
