Berkeley Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with stalking and peeping, among other charges, Wednesday morning, according to a Nixle alert released Thursday afternoon.

The Nixle alert identified the suspect as Pedro Sosa Jacobo, a 56-year-old man from Oakland. He was arrested on suspicion of felony stalking, committing a crime while out on bail and misdemeanor peeping, and on his outstanding arrest warrant.

On Oct. 5, BPD received a report from a resident on the 1300 block of Hopkins Street that someone had been “peeping” in her windows in the morning, the alert stated. When officers investigated the incident, they discovered that the suspect was also seen peeping by neighbors on two prior occasions.

“(The neighbors) recognized his photograph from a previous news article about his arrest,” the alert said. “Over the next few days, officers determined the suspect’s identity and obtained a warrant for his arrest.”

Officers were waiting for the suspect when he returned to the victim’s residence Oct. 10 about 6:20 a.m. When officers tried to detain Jacobo on the side of the house, he fled the scene. BPD, however, had already set up a perimeter, and was able to successfully detain the suspect.

Jacobo is currently being held in Santa Rita Jail, according to Alameda County Inmate Locator. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 12 about 9 a.m. in Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse.
