UCPD and Berkeley Police Department are looking for a female suspect in connection with a strong arm robbery at People’s Park, according to a UCPD Nixle alert sent out Monday about 12:14 p.m.

At 9:40 p.m. Sunday, the suspect — approximately 25 to 30 years old — allegedly robbed a woman’s belongings and assaulted her at the southwest corner of People’s Park.

According to the alert, the suspect fled the scene after punching the victim and took the woman’s purse. The victim had been approached while she was allegedly showing some of her belongings. UCPD and BPD have not been able to identify the suspect.

UCPD strongly suggests following safety tips such as traveling with a friend or in a group, keeping electronics out of public view and reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement in a timely manner.
