For the first time since its conception and after a yearlong hiatus during 2017, Treasure Island Music Festival was not hosted on Treasure Island, but instead at Oakland’s Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Nestled into the sand and backed by shipping cranes, the festival’s two stages hosted a classic lineup of hip-hop, indie and folk music.
With headliners A$AP Rocky and Tame Impala split over the weekend, festivalgoers had plenty of opportunity to check out the afternoon’s other acts such as Courtney Barnett, Soccer Mommy, Cigarettes After Sex and Pusha T. In fact, a weak link couldn’t be found in this year’s lineup.
With a series of stellar acts and many big names — and after the havoc wreaked by the rain on the 10th installment of Treasure Island Music Festival in 2016 — this year’s festival was nothing short of gold.
