Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert Tuesday about 11 a.m. detailing the events leading up to the sentencing of a suspect connected to two shootings that occurred in August 2015.
Jamall Tousant was found guilty Friday on multiple assault and gun charges after a two-week trial and sentenced to “20+” years, the alert said. BPD had arrested Tousant in October 2015 at his Alameda residence, after obtaining a search warrant that led to the discovery of Tousant’s high-capacity drum magazine associated with assault rifles.
The first of the two shootings related to Tousant’s arrest occurred in the area of San Pablo Park on Aug. 15, 2015. The latter occurred on Aug. 20, 2015, in Oakland, the alert said.
