2 street robberies occur in Berkeley in past 2 days

Two street robberies occurred in Berkeley in the past two days, according to a Nixle alert released by Berkeley Police Department about 1:24 p.m. Monday.

On Sunday about 7 p.m., a man was walking his dog on Allston Way when two suspects punched him in the face and demanded his property before fleeing the area, according to the alert. The victim, 49, received cuts and bruises but declined medical evaluation.

According to the alert, the second street robbery occurred Monday about 10:46 a.m., when a suspect grabbed a cellphone from the hands of a person walking in the area of Haste and Bowditch streets. The suspect then left the scene in a nearby vehicle.
