The National Weather Service issued a “red flag warning” from 10 p.m. Saturday through 4 p.m. Sunday.

According to a Nixle alert released by the Alameda County Fire Department at 9:23 p.m Saturday, the East Bay hills are an “area of concern” because of smoke coming from the Butte County fire.

The alert stated that a red flag warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will occur. The alert said a condition of low relative humidity, warm temperatures and strong winds can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
