Two armed robberies occurred in Berkeley last week, according to a Nixle alert released by the Berkeley Police Department on Thursday at 2:32 p.m.

On Nov. 9 at 6:19 p.m., a suspect entered Ici Ice Cream at 2079 University Ave. with his face covered, according to the alert. The suspect demanded cash from the cash register while holding a handgun. After taking the cash, the suspect left the store.

On Nov. 10 at 10:50 p.m., a man was robbed while standing on his porch on the 1500 block of Channing Way, according to the alert. While he was using his cellphone, two suspects approached the man wearing costume masks, and one of them pointed a gun at him and demanded his cellphone. The suspects ran away after grabbing the phone from the man’s hands.
